Heat counts distinct accounts and organisations talking about the same story. A source collected twice counts once, and attention fades with a 24-hour half-life. It measures discussion, not the quality of the reporting.

The list covers the last 48 hours. The trend compares the same set of sources over time. It describes this site's coverage, not the whole internet. With no comparable history, the trend is left off.

Named sources are reports you can read. Participants also include accounts counted only for heat. Several channels of one organisation may be merged, so the people count is not always higher than the source count. Open a story to read each side.
