Report: Xbox plans a new handheld for 2027 amid OS turf battles with Windows
Xbox Reportedly Plans To Release New Gaming Handheld In 2027 Despite Ongoing Turf Battles With Windows
Brief
According to Fortune, Xbox CEO Asha Sharma wants a next-generation handheld by the 2027 holiday season, followed by the next Xbox console in holiday 2028. The report says Xbox and Windows teams clashed over whether the handheld would run a version of Windows Home, with a senior Xbox executive threatening to scrap the project; Xbox now largely controls the OS direction. It is unclear whether both devices fall under the Project Helix family, and pricing has not been announced.
