Dwarf Fortress co-founder Tarn "Toady One" Adams said in the Bay 12 forums' "Future of the Fortress" thread that the game is getting a meat biome with muscle, bone, vertebral walls, sinew and sphincters, and that players can mine the meat for resources. The biome will likely be underground and has no release date, with no meat trees and no new fluids for now. Adams also said regular meat probably can't be animated.
