How to unlock fast travel in Castlevania: Belmont's Curse

Fast travel in Castlevania: Belmont's Curse stays locked until you make a fair amount of progress. Early on, revisiting old areas or grabbing missed treasures means going on foot, or waiting a couple of hours. The unlock can't be missed, and once you have it you can travel between anywhere you've already visited.
