US court orders Redditor to pay Nintendo £3.4m over Switch piracy

A US District Judge granted Nintendo a $4.5m (£3.4m) default judgment against James Williams, the former Reddit moderator known as Archbox, after he failed to respond to a lawsuit over alleged Nintendo Switch piracy. Nintendo sought $150,000 for each of 30 allegedly pirated games, including The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The judge called the infringement egregious and issued a permanent injunction barring Williams from distributing any pirated Nintendo games or encouraging others to do so.
