Doom can 'run' on a DNS database now, and one of the technology's pioneers says 'I can't decide whether this is deliciously horrible, or else horribly delicious'
Brief
Corey Quinn has compiled Doom for a 32-bit machine whose arithmetic and memory live in DNS, using a database of 6.4 million rows of truth tables. DNS pioneer Paul Vixie called it the best use of RFC 2136 DNS UPDATE he's ever seen. One update takes just over 54 seconds, so it's far from playable, and Quinn has published the code on GitHub.
