New Ape Escape Reportedly in Development at Sonic Mania Team

A new Ape Escape game is reportedly in development at Evening Star, the studio behind Sonic Mania, according to journalist Jeff Gerstmann and corroborated by VGC sources. Gerstmann said the project appears to have been barely greenlit and is not close to release, with an external studio rather than Team Asobi handling it. Sony is reportedly looking at using third-party studios to revive dormant series, and the last Ape Escape game was PlayStation Move Ape Escape for PS3 in 2010.
