Street Fighter Director Says Legendary Wanted Absurdity, Never a Dark Batman Begins-Style Movie

Street Fighter director Kitao Sakurai said Legendary wanted an absurd, silly take on the Capcom fighting series and that pitching "the Batman Begins of Street Fighter movies" would never have landed him the job. The film is number one in North America but split critics and audiences, with a 41% Tomatometer score and a 78% Popcornmeter score; IGN gave it 6/10. Sakurai said a sequel is being thought about but nothing is set in stone.
