Report: Xbox to release a next-gen handheld in 2027 and the expensive Helix console in 2028

Fortune reported that Xbox plans a next-generation handheld by the 2027 holiday season and the Helix console in 2028. The report said Microsoft clashed internally over which software the handheld should run, with Windows leaders favoring a trimmed-down Windows Home while Asha Sharma's team sought to build and control its own software, and a senior Xbox executive reportedly threatened to scrap the project. The Helix console has been internally projected to cost consumers between $1,200 and $1,800 unless Microsoft subsidizes it.
