- PC GamerPublic outing of severe, unfixed Linux kernel vulnerabilities has SteamOS and other distro users thinking about beta branches
A list of as-yet unpatched Linux kernel vulnerabilities was accidentally sent to a public mailing list, with some issues scoring as high as 9 on the CVSS scale. The reports seemingly came from Trend Micro's Zero Day Initiative, and kernel stable branch maintainer Greg Kroah-Hartman responded to each asking for the submission process to be fixed. Some of the cases are undergoing testing or are queued in beta or '-next' branches, so users of SteamOS or other distros may want to opt into a beta branch for updates.
