Ex-Capcom Manager Discusses Resident Evil 7's Tumultuous Development: "It Was So All Over The Place"

Former Capcom manager Miguel E. Corti discussed the development of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard on Bluesky, saying the project was "so all over the place" he lost track of the versions. He said multiple protagonists including Leon, Jill, Rebecca and Hunk were considered before a Capcom reorganisation restarted development and the team shifted to first-person survival horror. Ethan was originally meant to be silent, and the game sold 3 million copies in its first year before gaining momentum.
