Battlefield 6 is now free to play on Steam, letting players try all multiplayer maps and modes through Oct. 20. During the trial the Standard Edition costs $27.99, down 60% from $69.99, also through Oct. 20. The trial coincides with Season 5, which launched Oct. 13 with new maps, six weapons, two vehicles, the faster-paced free-to-play battle royale mode Rapid Royale, and a teased Dead Space crossover Halloween event.

EA and Dice announced a Dead Space crossover event for Battlefield 6 set in Area 51, where players can unlock unique cosmetics from October 20 to November 7. Season 5 starts October 13 with new Las Vegas-themed maps, followed by European Casino on November 10 and another map on December 8. REDSEC adds Rapid Royale, a faster battle royale with fewer players where kills generate money for respawning.

The latest Battlefield 6 Season 5 trailer shows a Las Vegas map before cutting to two Dead Space engineers staring up at The Marker, seemingly teasing a crossover. Season 5 includes three new maps, among them Vegas Strip and Area 51, plus six new weapons and two new vehicles, with Vegas opening on October 13. Reddit players had already spotted possible Dead Space skins, rumored to arrive in this October's Halloween update, and EA recently charged $40 for a Dead Space skin in Skate.
