Jackbox Games said Debate and Switch was conceived and developed by its internal team without knowledge of Die On This Hill, and that outside submissions go to business development and are intentionally not shared with game teams.

   Solo board game developer Sam Greszes says Debate and Switch in Jackbox Party Pack 12 closely resembles his game Die On This Hill, which he sent to Jackbox Games as a video game pitch in 2025. He describes both as party games where players argue silly debate topics, audiences vote, and topic words can be swapped. Greszes acknowledges game mechanics aren't copyrightable and no contract was signed, and Kotaku has reached out to Jackbox Games for comment.
