Microsoft told Arkane management in July it intended to close the studio, with French labor law delaying the step

Microsoft told management at Arkane Studios, developer of Dishonored and Marvel's Blade, on July 16 that it intended to close the studio. Because Arkane is based in Lyon, France, Xbox must follow French labor law and could not close it immediately. Microsoft had announced a "reset" for Xbox in July, with over 3,000 layoffs planned between July 2026 and 2027, and some studios forced to go independent.
