New generative AI models have made game decompilation fast enough that the Pokémon community is rushing out AI-driven ports and mashups, including ports of Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, Pokémon Snap, and Pokémon Heart Gold and Soul Silver. 404 Media reported that some of these AI decompilations produce source code that isn't the same as the original, with the resulting software carrying weird bugs, low quality, or not fully working. Longtime decompilers say recompilations that once drew community-wide celebration are now buried under a flood of slop.
