A developer has released an experimental build on GitHub that brings real Intel XeSS super resolution and XeSS Frame Generation to Proton games on Linux, running on the GPU's XMX units instead of the DP4a fallback used by stock Wine/Proton. Built on a OneXPlayer 3 handheld with the Intel G3 Extreme chip and also tested on an Arc B580 GPU, it delivers a 29% performance boost in Cyberpunk from XMX upscaling alone and 145% with frame generation, while Forza Horizon 6 sees a 16% gain. Installation requires unpacking the archive and running an install command with the native Steam client, as Flatpak Steam is not currently supported.
