At the Shanghai Unreal Fest, Epic Games founder and CEO Tim Sweeney said game companies that do not invest in or resist AI will quickly be left behind, and Epic is undergoing a major internal shift toward maximum AI acceleration. Epic showed AI taking part in scene building, gameplay implementation and performance optimization, and is redesigning its next-generation engine around AI, including using AI to convert existing UE5 projects to UE6. Tim said an Epic Games Store version built with AI was developed roughly ten times faster than previous manual work.
