World of Warcraft: Forever developers say gear upgrades will stay relevant for a long time even though the level cap remains 60, and low-level gear is more powerful than before. Vice president and senior game director Ion Hazzikostas said item levels between Blackwing Lair and Ahn'Qiraj differ by only a couple of levels, so both can coexist, while associate production director Clay Stone said the team intends not to invalidate old content. The version launches on November 4 with the Barrow Deeps raid in December, and developers are hiding item data and making crafted gear more useful while leveling to preserve discovery.
