- Rock Paper ShotgunDragon Age's Original Artists Wanted a Conan the Barbarian Base, to the Designers' Outrage
Former Dragon Age lead writer David Gaider said in a Summer Eternal anthology interview that BioWare's art department pushed a Conan the Barbarian look for Dragon Age: Origins, with sexy sorceresses and bare-chested barbarians in the E3 reveal video, while designers insisted on a Lord of the Rings style. Producers meanwhile wanted something closer to Diablo, including creatures exploding in blood. Gaider said the lack of a singular vision made the series' style shift between releases, unlike Mass Effect under Casey Hudson.
