After playing the full version of Blades of the Shadow early, the author says the game exceeds expectations in scale and polish. It has eight region maps built from smaller sandbox areas, light guidance on maps but clear quest markers, and major side quests that hide their own region maps. Charms and medicines can cut unblockable elemental damage by up to 80%, more than 50 bosses are spread across side paths and quest lines, and the main story runs about 20 hours. The author also notes stuttering and frame drops in the media build, plus frequent multi-enemy gauntlets and drifting lock-on.
