Xbox games chief Asha Sharma has announced Xbox Labs, a small group of game makers, engineers and scientists led by CTO Scott Van Vliet, tasked with turning emerging ideas into things players and developers can experience. Microsoft clarified to GI.biz that AI usage won't be mandatory, though Sharma's statement offered no specific action plans. Sharma noted games are being rapidly decompiled and rebuilt for hardware they were never designed for, including Windows PC builds translated to Apple Silicon or run in browsers via WebAssembly and WebGPU, the latter now approaching 90% global browser support.
