Minh "Gooseman" Le, co-creator of Counter-Strike, recalled on the Indie Game Joe podcast that Valve founder Gabe Newell became obsessed with Mongolian throat singing after watching a documentary on the technique, practicing almost daily in the office for about five months. Le also said Newell collects cold weapons, and that the singing Vortigaunt in Half-Life 2 used recordings of Newell practicing throat singing.
