Microsoft has filed a patent for an "ad-credit" system that would display ads and announcements during PC and Xbox game sessions without disrupting gameplay. The system would identify natural pauses such as loading screens, menus, or the end of missions and rounds, then suspend gameplay and controls to show an ad. After viewing the content, players would receive a credit granting a period of ad-free play ranging from 15 minutes to an hour or more.
