Gamepires lays off staff eight months after Splash Damage acquisition

Splash Damage acquired this studio just 3 months after laying off a bunch of people—now it's laying them off, too

Brief

Gamepires, developer of Scum, announced layoffs without giving a number, and parent Splash Damage cited challenging market conditions and long-term sustainability. Gamepires was acquired by Splash Damage eight months ago, three months after Splash Damage itself cut staff, and Splash Damage's Transformers: Reactivate was cancelled in 2025. Splash Damage said development and updates for Scum will continue.
