Xbox Requires Staff Within 50 Miles of HQ to Be in Office Four Days a Week Amid Layoffs

Xbox is carrying out a "reset" set to cut 20 percent of its headcount and will require employees within 50 commuting miles of its Washington headquarters to work in the office at least four days a week starting February 1, 2027. Chief people officer Jacinda Chislum Pearson said thousands of Xbox employees live within commuting distance of Redmond and that in-person work makes reviewing work and making decisions easier. The report adds that more layoffs are expected in the coming months and that managers are expected to be present on those office days.
