SEGA Eager to Bring Sakura Wars Games to Modern Consoles

Longtime SEGA producer Akira Nishino said the publisher wants to bring the original Sakura Wars games to modern consoles, but various circumstances make it difficult to move forward easily. The series' most recent entry, New Sakura Wars, released for PS4 in 2020, while the west first got Sakura Wars: So Long, My Love on PS2 in 2010. SEGA says it will celebrate the series' 30th anniversary with pop-up shops and stage shows in Japan, and is "preparing something else big" without clarifying whether it's game-related.
