Activision is facing criticism after real news footage of the Itaewon crowd crush appeared in Modern Warfare 4's opening moments, and bereaved families' groups issued a joint statement demanding its removal. The Korean Game Consumers Association also called for an explanation and apology. Activision said the opening cinematic uses real-world news coverage to establish a fictional narrative and does not intend to reference or trivialize the Itaewon disaster.
