GTA 6 Could Cost America $1 Billion as 1.5 Million Workers Plan to Call in Sick

An economics professor projects that 1.5 million Americans will call in sick on November 19 to play Grand Theft Auto 6, costing roughly $1 billion if each worker earns $70,000 a year. That money isn't lost from the economy so much as shifted to publisher Take-Two Interactive, which is estimated to earn the same amount that day. The figure is an academic projection, not an official forecast, though a similar phenomenon followed Grand Theft Auto 5's 2013 launch.
