Astragon closes Astragon Development, the German studio formerly known as Independent Arts

Publisher Astragon Entertainment is closing Astragon Development, the German studio formerly known as Independent Arts Software, with more than 40 staff affected according to GamesMarket. Founded in Hamm in 1990, Independent Arts worked on over 250 games across three decades, mostly ports and co-development; Astragon acquired it in April 2023 for up to $3.9 million after Team17, now Everplay Group, bought Astragon in 2022. The closure follows Astragon's exit from physical distribution in January.
