Nier creator Yoko Taro says he's achieved his career dreams, but keeps working because it's 'good for preventing dementia'

Yoko Taro, creator of Nier and Drakengard, said at the Tokyo French Institute last month that he had already realized his vision as a director and has considered retiring. He said he continues working in game development partly for the money and because he fears mental decline from idleness, calling it "good for preventing dementia." He also said he hopes to dodge the "flames" of competition from younger, AI-assisted generations before he dies.
