Nvidia's 621.01 Driver Adds Microsoft Advanced Shader Delivery to Cut PC Shader Compilation Time

Nvidia Just Tackled One Of PC Gaming’s Biggest Headaches: Shader Compilation

Brief

Nvidia released version 621.01 drivers, adding Microsoft Advanced Shader Delivery support for RTX and RTX Spark graphics cards to cut shader compilation time by downloading precompiled shaders. Only two games support the technology so far, Gears of War: E-Day and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. In the author's testing on a desktop PC and an Asus ROG Ally X, Gears of War: E-Day started in under a minute, compared with waits of around 10 to 15 minutes for some games.
