Sony Is Getting Serious About The PS6, But Don't Expect An Announcement Just Yet

Sony said during a briefing on its latest financial results that research and development on its "next-generation" platform is proceeding smoothly, with CFO Lin Tao saying an announcement will come "at an appropriate time in the future." Sony has not yet decided on a launch timing or price for the new console, and CEO Hiroki Totoki said earlier this year that rising costs for components like RAM would affect its PS6 plans. Analysts have predicted the PS6 could sell for at least $1,000, while the PS5 nears lifetime sales of 100 million units.
