Hellraiser Revival studio had an ‘unofficial goal’ to be ‘banned, unrated, or restricted’ somewhere in the world
Brief
Saber Interactive’s team behind Hellraiser: Revival had an “unofficial goal” of getting the game banned, unrated, or restricted somewhere in the world as a barometer of delivering the series’ extreme content, narrative director Antony De Fault told IGN. The game includes full-frontal nudity, self-mutilation references, and extreme gore, and the team required players to perform taboo acts rather than merely witness them. It ships uncut in most countries with the highest rating available, but Indonesia’s rating system gave it RC (Refused Classification), effectively banning its sale there.
