A Love Letter to the Guitar Hero X-Plorer Controller

A player reflects on his RedOctane X-Plorer controller for Guitar Hero, which came bundled with Guitar Hero 2 and is about to turn 20 years old, noting that it still works and remains his favorite guitar controller. He owns several other guitar controllers, but says the X-Plorer's fret buttons feel the best and it works plug-and-play on PC, unlike the 2015 Guitar Hero Live guitars that require remapping software. The only issue he has had in twenty years is a broken whammy bar, which he fixed with an elastic band.
