Wizards of the Coast Dungeons & Dragons and Magic teams join union, demand halt to generative AI push

The Dungeons & Dragons team and Team X, which works on Magic: The Gathering and Dual Masters at Wizards of the Coast, are joining the Wizards of the Coast-CWA union that the Arena team formed earlier this year and that won its election in April. In a letter of demands, the union asks Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast leadership to stop pushing generative AI and to adopt an enforceable AI policy, and also seeks ownership of what employees create in their free time. The union has given the company until October 13 to voluntarily recognize the expanded unit, otherwise it would have to file with the NLRB and win another election.
