Fire Emblem's Remarkable Comeback

The Fire Emblem series was once on the verge of cancellation before a dramatic shakeup reversed its fortunes. Though the series debuted on the Famicom in 1990, its first several installments never left Japan, and most Western players were introduced to it through Super Smash Bros. Melee on the Nintendo GameCube. Marth and Roy, two hidden fighters from the series, became two of Melee's most popular characters thanks to their cool designs and nimble swordplay.
