Sony earnings put lifetime PS5 sales at 97.9 million as next console development continues

Sony said it sold 2.6 million PS5 consoles in the quarter ended September 30, bringing lifetime sales to 97.9 million. The company said it is in talks with manufacturers to secure enough memory for the next fiscal year and expects hardware sales to stay profitable. Sony also said development of its next PlayStation console is making solid progress and will be announced at an appropriate time.
