Formula One Has a Big AI Problem. Should the Next F1 Game Recreate It?
Brief
Codemasters has long simulated F1's finer details, but the AI-controlled power deployment introduced by the 2026 regulations poses a difficult question for the next F1 game. The system has already misfired in real races: at a wet Sepang, 22 cars crawled at 20mph on the warmup lap and teams had to install a software update before the race could start, while Valtteri Bottas retired in Baku due to the energy deployment system. Lando Norris also said battery deployment triggered unintentionally, forcing him to overtake Lewis Hamilton before he became a sitting duck.
