Zach Cregger's Resident Evil Movie Understands How It Feels To Play A Resident Evil Game

Zach Cregger's Resident Evil movie contains very few overt references to the larger franchise, taking place primarily in Raccoon City with the Umbrella Corporation, a typewriter, and Heavy Field shotgun shells. It follows an ordinary man named Bryan through one night stuck in a Resident Evil-style ordeal, reacting as a player rather than a series protagonist across a 90-minute runtime. The author says it expertly captures the emotional experience of playing a Resident Evil game and replaces Werewolves Within as their favorite video game film adaptation.
