Marvelous' New RPG Eternal Anima Uses 'Future Sight' to Rework Turn-Based Combat
New RPG From Final Fantasy, Persona Vets Borrows From The Past To Ask How We Can Save The Future
Brief
Marvelous is developing Eternal Anima, a new Japanese RPG from veterans including director Katsuhisa Higuchi, a programmer on early Final Fantasy games and Chrono Trigger, and writer Kazushige Nojima of Final Fantasy VII, VIII and Kingdom Hearts. The story follows Wade, who can see an object's history by touching it, as he travels into the past to the submerged continent of Ambulis in a world where uncovering the truth is forbidden. Combat uses a Future Sight ability and a BP system that let players see enemy moves in advance and break them on a turn progress bar, turning battles into puzzles.
