The front-runners and predictions for Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2026 are laid out, based on a voting body that favors high Metacritic scores (preferably over 90), RPGs and action-adventures, and strongly narrative games, while indie and multiplayer titles struggle for recognition. The same method correctly predicted last year's winner, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and the 2024 winner, Astro Bot. In 2025 it also predicted all six GOTY nominees and correctly called 20 other categories.
