Fixed Past, Changed Future: TGS2026 Interview with the Eternal Anima Development Team

At the TGS2026 Marvelous game experience event, development director Katsuhisa Higuchi and producer Makoto Shioda discussed Eternal Anima, a classic JRPG-style title built around the theme of inheritance. Protagonist Wade uses a "Thought-Reading" ability to read memories left in objects and inherit past characters' jobs and skills, tying exploration directly to character growth. The game uses command-based turn-based combat with a "future prediction" system that shows enemy actions and possible outcomes in real time, letting players change the course of battle through their choices.

Eternal Anima Interview with Producer Makoto Shioda and Development Director Katsuhisa Higuchi – Future Sight Battles, Time Travel, and More

Eternal Anima producer Makoto Shioda and development director Katsuhisa Higuchi discussed the Marvelous turn-based RPG's Future Sight Battles, time-travel mechanics, and character customization in an interview with Gematsu. Higuchi said battles account for 70 to 80 percent of what makes a JRPG enjoyable, and Future Sight Battles let players see enemy actions before choosing their own. The game is due out for PS5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, and PC via Steam on March 4, 2027.
