- Rock Paper ShotgunCaves of Qud expansion Diaspora enters early access on December 9 with playable plants and animals
Caves of Qud's first expansion, Diaspora, will enter early access on December 9, letting players take on the roles of animals such as cats, dogs, frogs and chameleons, as well as vines and trees, with new mutations like claws, muzzles and tails. Developer Freehold Games said the expansion adds improved road and river networks, new creatures and artifacts, and plans through 2027 for a new questline, the foxen and snailfolk humanoid factions, more creatures, items, biomes, ingredients and diseases, plus roaming mega-caravans, underground villages and multi-zone dungeons. The base game will also receive updates, with some free additions arriving in the DLC first and a roadmap due at the December launch.
- Game DeveloperCaves of Qud: Diaspora Becomes First Early Access DLC Release on Steam
Caves of Qud: Diaspora is the first DLC to launch in Early Access on Steam. - PC GamerCaves of Qud expansion Diaspora enters early access on December 9, letting you play as a mutating plant
Caves of Qud's expansion Diaspora will enter early access on Steam on December 9, letting players start as a mutated animal or plant, such as a tree that mutates into a man. Publisher Kitfox said Diaspora adds feature arcs around new life and culture flowing into Qud's marsh-moated ruins, plus new creatures and artifacts at launch, and camelfolk caravans with their saltback tortoise steeds will be mountable for the first time. Development is expected to last on the order of one year, with plans for a multi-step questline, new factions and underground villages, seasonal mega-caravans, more items, creatures, mutant stocks, and new fungal infections.
