Steam achievements get a major overhaul with separate DLC and seasonal sets and friend comparison
Steam achievements are getting a huge overhaul, with separate sets for DLC and season passes, and an easy way to compare with friends
Valve pushed an update to the Steam client beta that reworks how achievements work and are displayed. Developers can now build custom achievement sets and separate base game achievements from DLC and seasonal sets, with seasonal achievements valid for a limited period and not affecting base game counts, as in Valve's Halloween Event Achievements example. The achievements page has also been refreshed to show most information on one page and to let players compare achievements with up to three friends at once. The system is still in beta, and games including Against the Storm, Crusader Kings III, Left 4 Dead 2, Portal 2, Team Fortress 2 and Forza Horizon 5 have already adopted it.
