Rockstar Originally Planned to Develop GTA 6 Alongside Red Dead Redemption 2, Which Would Have Meant a Much Earlier Release

Rockstar Games originally intended to develop GTA 6 alongside Red Dead Redemption 2, but put it on the back burner because Red Dead 2 required an all-hands-on-deck effort. Had the two been developed simultaneously, GTA 6 likely could have been released in the early 2020s. The first release window Rockstar ever publicly provided for GTA 6 was 2025, and the game was delayed a couple of times.
