Gears of War: E-Day sales: analysts unpack Game Pass impact

Gears of War: E-Day launched this week, and a report from Alinea Analytics' Rhys Elliott says it has sold about 230,000 copies so far, with 168,000 on Steam and 62,000 across Xbox console and PC. Elliott said Game Pass cannibalized most sales, with 1.7 million people acquiring the game through the subscription and 722,000 of them buying the $30 Premium upgrade. He said Xbox accounts for roughly $26 million of the $37 million in revenue, and called the $70 edition functionally dead on Xbox under day-one Game Pass.
