Zelda producer Aonuma wanted Ocarina of Time remake to 'trigger new insights' in younger developers

The Legend of Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma said he wanted to remake Ocarina of Time to "trigger new insights" in younger members of the development team. In a Nintendo Ask the Developer article, he explained that many team members had only worked on more recent titles, so rebuilding the game as a full remake for the series' 40th anniversary could teach them about its structure and development style. He added that he gave developers freedom over changes and was surprised by how few they made.
