Epic Games chief Tim Sweeney claims 'Valve has held gaming back for years'

Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney said Valve "has held gaming back for years" by locking developers' PC games into Steamworks' social walled garden, where players can't talk to those on iOS, Android, Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, or other PC stores. His reply came in a thread started by former Epic animation programmer Kiaran Ritchie, who criticized Valve's 30% cut on Steam sales. Sweeney also dismissed a community note saying many games use Steamworks only for authentication as "fake."
