EA shuts down BioWare, cutting about 400 jobs and canceling the next Mass Effect
BioWare Deserved Better
Brief
EA shut down BioWare on Wednesday, laying off its remaining staff as part of roughly 400 job cuts at EA and canceling the next Mass Effect, often called Mass Effect 5. The piece traces the studio's output from Baldur's Gate through Mass Effect and Dragon Age, noting that Dragon Age: The Veilguard fell short of EA's sales expectations. It argues the closure of a studio known for choice-driven narrative RPGs is a loss for players and developers alike.
