Cancelled MMO Spin-off Borderlands Online Is Playable Again, Unofficial Team Didn't Use Any GenAI

The cancelled MMO spin-off Borderlands Online, originally planned as a free-to-play release exclusive to China, is playable again through an unofficial project. Modder EpicNNG said the work to get past the login screen and translate the game into English far exceeded anything they had done before, including customising UI and HUD elements. The team released it earlier than planned due to the growing power of AI, and said they used no genAI and will stop if publisher Take-Two asks them to.
